But if you really want to go big, our 12-hour offshore run takes you nearly 100 miles out to where the real giants live. We're talking yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, blue marlin, sailfish, swordfish... the A-list of Gulf gamefish. We're talking 130-class reels spooled with 200-pound braid, ready to wrestle with triple-digit yellowfins. We might chunk for tuna, run kites for billfish, or even break out the butterfly jigs if the bite gets tough. The crew's got years of experience reading the water, finding the bait, and putting you on the fish. All you gotta do is hang on and wind!
Our customers don't just fish with us once - they come back again and again. And it's not just because of the fish (though that helps). It's the whole package. Yellowfin Tuna: The crown jewel of Gulf offshore fishing. These torpedo-shaped eating machines can top 200 pounds and will test every ounce of your strength. We target them around the deep-water oil rigs, where they hunt massive schools of baitfish. The fight is epic, but the sushi-grade meat is the real prize. Peak season is typically late spring through fall, but we can find them year-round if conditions are right.
Blackfin Tuna: Don't let their smaller size fool you - blackfins are pound-for-pound one of the hardest fighting fish in the Gulf. These speedsters usually run 15-30 pounds and often show up in big schools. They're a blast on light tackle and make for some of the best eating out there. We catch them year-round, but fall and winter can be especially good when they school up tight.
Blue Marlin: The ultimate bucket list fish for many anglers. Blues are the largest of the billfish, capable of topping 1,000 pounds (though 200-400 pounders are more common in our waters). They're incredibly fast and known for their acrobatic jumps. We target them by trolling large lures or rigged baits. The bite is usually best from late spring through early fall. It's strictly catch and release for these magnificent creatures.
Albacore Tuna: Also known as longfin tuna, these hard-fighting fish are prized for their rich, flavorful meat. They typically run 20-40 pounds in our waters and can be caught year-round, though spring and fall often see the best action. We usually pick them up while trolling, and they put up a great fight on lighter tackle.
Skipjack Tuna: These smaller cousins of the yellowfin are often overlooked, but they shouldn't be. Skipjacks typically run 5-20 pounds and fight like fish twice their size. They're often found in large schools, which can make for some fast and furious action when we find them. Their dark, rich meat is excellent for smoking or making tuna dip. We catch them year-round, with summer and fall being prime time.
Alright, folks, let's cut to the chase - if you want in on this world-class offshore action, you need to lock in your date now. Our trips fill up fast, especially during peak seasons. Whether you're after a quick hit on the near-shore reefs or a marathon run to the tuna grounds, Overkill Adventures has the trip for you. Remember, we can only take 6 anglers per trip, so grab your fishing buddies and give us a call. Don't spend another season wishing you were out here - book now and get ready for the offshore adventure of a lifetime. The Gulf is calling, and the big ones are waiting. Let's go fishing!

Albacore tuna are the smallest of the tuna species we target, but what they lack in size they make up for in numbers and action. Most run 15-30 pounds and about 2-3 feet long. We find them in big schools out in the open Gulf, usually within the top 100 feet of water. Spring and fall are prime seasons as they migrate through. Albacore are lightning fast and will hit just about any lure or bait you toss their way. Trolling is the go-to method - I like to pull a spread of cedar plugs, feathers, and small skirted lures. Once you find a school, it's non-stop action. The meat is mild and flaky, great for grilling or canning. Pro tip: when you hook one, get it in quick. Sharks love to pick off hooked albacore, so you've got to beat them to it!
Blackfin tuna are the hometown heroes of our Gulf waters. These compact powerhouses usually run 15-30 pounds but fight like fish twice their size. We find them year-round, often within sight of land near oil rigs, buoys, or floating debris. They hunt in wolf packs, so when you find one, there's usually more nearby. Blackfin are known for their topwater strikes - watching them crash poppers or stick baits is a real rush. The meat is rich and dark, excellent for searing rare. When we're targeting blackfin, I like to start at dawn trolling small feathers or swimming plugs. As the sun gets higher, we'll switch to jigging or live bait fishing. Pro tip: always have a pitch bait ready - blackfin often pop up right next to the boat chasing bait.
Blue marlin are the crown jewels of offshore fishing. These massive billfish can top 1,000 pounds, though most we see run 200-500 pounds. We find them in the deep blue waters beyond the continental shelf, usually over 100 miles out. Summer and early fall are prime time as they follow the warm currents. Hooking a blue marlin is the ultimate test of angling skill - they're known for blistering runs, spectacular jumps, and battles that can last hours. We usually troll large lures or rigged baits to cover water. When a blue crashes the spread, it's pure mayhem. The meat isn't considered table fare, so we practice catch and release. My best advice? When that reel starts screaming, get ready for the fish of a lifetime - and don't forget to breathe!
Skipjack tuna are the speed demons of the tuna world. These little rockets usually run 5-20 pounds and put on an acrobatic show when hooked. We find them in big schools near the surface, often mixed in with other small tuna species. They're around most of the year but really fire up in the warmer months. Skipjack hit hard and fast - be ready for screaming reels and jumps all over the place. Light tackle is the way to go for maximum fun. Try trolling small feathers or spoons, or cast metal jigs into feeding frenzies. The meat is dark and strong-flavored, popular for smoking or making fish dip. Here's a local trick: when you see birds working the surface, idle up slowly and look for the telltale splashes of skipjack busting bait. Cast right into the fray and hold on tight!
Yellowfin tuna are the prized catch of our offshore trips. These streamlined powerhouses typically range from 30 to 100 pounds, though monsters over 200 pounds aren't unheard of. We find them in the deep blue waters around the oil rigs, usually 50-300 feet down. They school up thick in the warmer months from May through October. Anglers love yellowfin for their blistering runs and acrobatic jumps - hooking one is an adrenaline rush like no other. The meat is also some of the best eating you'll find, perfect for sashimi or grilled tuna steaks. When we're after yellowfin, I like to troll with cedar plugs or skirted lures early, then switch to live bait or chunking if we mark fish deep. Just be ready for your arms to get a serious workout when one of these torpedoes takes off!
